One of the most celebrated and anticipated tournaments in tennis, the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament, is held every year at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York City.  The tournament, which began in 1881 as an elite entrainment event for high society, has evolved into one of the most important and influential “Grand Slam” tournaments in tennis.  The tournament consists of five different championships: men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles, with additional tournaments for senior, junior, and wheelchair tennis players. The tournament is an unique championship in that it has final-set tiebreaks. The other three Grand Slam tournaments feature a deciding set (fifth for men, third for women) which is played until won by two games.  Since the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament is such an important championship, only the “best of the best” tennis players can compete for the title and staggering $22.6 million reward.  Battling it out on the courts this year will be Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova.  A special treat for teenagers this year will be a concert on Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day presented by the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato on August 28.
