The Formula One World Championship Races are absolutely iconic. The sites and sounds of racecars zipping around corners at high speeds are thrilling for spectators, crews, and drivers. It's so easy to see why millions flock to the races each year to witness some of the fastest-moving vehicles on the earth compete.

The Grand Prix has been a popular major event since the early 1920s; however, the first World Championship race wasn’t held until 1950. This race is where the Grand Prix earned its title as the most prestigious race car event in the world.

Formula One cars are the fastest regulated cars in the world. They must adhere to a strict set of regulations or “formulas” before they can enter the race. And all drivers must possess a valid Super License, which is the highest class of racing license issued by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).  It takes a lot of skill and knowledge to race in these cars, and only the best at the wheel are honored with this qualification.

The first eight races of the year promise to be the most exciting yet:

Round 1: Formula 1 Rolex Grosser Preis von Osterrerich at The Red Bull Ring in Austria – July 3-5

Round 2: Formula 1 Pierlli Grosser Preis der Steiermark at The Red Bull Ring in Austria – July 10 -12
