Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is now in its 83rd year and features 10 days of epic motorcycle rides.

On August 14, 1938, the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club hosted the first rally. Since then, this annual event draws 500,000 riders to Sturgis each year. In 2015, attendance rose to more than 700,000 making it the biggest attendance in this event’s history.

Originally, the focus of the rally was stunts and racing. But it evolved into something much more. In 1961, the rally expanded to include motocross races and The Hillclimb. Since then, more and more events have been added to ensure the rally offers something for everyone.

2023 Rides & Events

Ride with a Local – August 7, 9, & 12, 2023.

This guided ride will introduce newcomers to the Black Hills and give riders a chance to see the area from a local’s point of view.

The Legendary Sturgis 5K – August 8, 2023

If you thought the Motorcycle Rally was all about motorcycles, you’ve been mistaken. There’s a 5K race dedicated to walking, jogging or running, and it’s all for a good cause too!

Beard & Moustache Contest – August 10, 2023

No rally would be complete without a beard and moustache competition. Some categories include: Papa Beard, Baby Beard, Double Dapper, and Beer Soakin’ Moustache. Does your facial hair have what it takes?
