Brighton is a lively seaside city in England, known for its pebble beach, colorful pier, and bohemian spirit. With quirky shops, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural events, it's a favorite coastal escape.
Brighton is an idyllic and occasionally eccentric English seaside resort that is located along the south Sussex coast and overlooking the English Channel. Located only an hour’s drive from London, 30 minutes train ride from Gatwick airport, and 71.4 miles west of the Chanel Tunnel to France, Brighton has been a point of interest for daytrippers looking to bathe in the sea and for those looking for a weekend away. Its long shingle-and-sand shore beach is lined with amusement arcades, gift shops, restaurants, including more than a few fish-and-chip takeaways, and hotels.
An easy town to find your way around, explore Brighton by foot or bike and visit the city’s quaint villages and attractions. Most of the action takes place along the waterfront, but there are other areas to explore as well. Start off at the Brighton Palace Pier, an example of a Victorian-era architecture. It features fairground attractions, two classic arcades, restaurants, plus Brighton’s largest indoor soft play area. Further along the shore is the West Pier, once the epicenter of Brighton’s seaside entertainment area, and now the site of a shopping district known as the West Pier Arches. You can also visit one of Brighton’s most innovative new buildings nearby. The British Airways i360 is a 450 ft. tower that offers 360-degree views from its futuristic glass pod. A visit to Brighton would not be complete without a visit to the Royal Pavilion, which was built as a home for the Prince Regent in the 19th century. The building is stylized in Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture with an Oriental interior, similar to the Taj Mahal. It one of two buildings in Brighton built in similar fashion. The other is the Sassoon Mausoleum, the former grave of Sir Albert Sassoon and other members of his family. The building once served as an air-raid shelter in the Second World War and is now a nightclub.
