Home to world-famous beer and an exceptional football team
The largest city in the Ruhr area, Dortmund is as historic as it is enthusiastic about all things football (soccer). Once powered by heavy industry, it’s now a high-tech manufacturing powerhouse. Mines, breweries, and steelworks that once fuelled the economy now sit as enormous monuments to the prosperous post-war era. Among these monuments is the Signal Iduna Park, a cathedral-like stadium that’s home to their infamous football team.

Dortmund is a dynamic city in Germany’s Ruhr region, where industrial roots have given way to green spaces, innovation, and a thriving cultural scene. Known for its passionate football culture and lively beer halls, the city also surprises with cutting-edge museums, street art, and revitalized urban districts. Whether you're catching a Borussia Dortmund match or exploring its blend of grit and growth, Dortmund offers a bold, authentic taste of modern Germany.
Dortmund is part of the Ruhr area and the larger Rhine-Ruhr urban area. Located just north of the river Ruhr, Dortmund is mostly made up of agricultural, woodland, and park space with many flowing waterways. Of its three key main industries, steel, coal, and beer, beer is the only one still keeping this German city afloat.
Dortmund is well known for its phenomenal football team. The Borussia Dortmund team is Germany’s second most successful team. Even if sporting events don’t rank very high on your list of things to see, the Signal Iduna Park is well worth the trip. It’s the second largest club stadium in Europe. But be sure to bring earplugs. With a capacity of more than 80,000 people, the football games are as loud as they are exciting. Since football is such a fan favourite in Dortmund, it’s easy to see why the German Football Museum exists here too. Opened to the public since 2015, this museum displays trophies from The World Cup and European Championship, and plays host to all kinds of memorabilia, quizzes, and interactive exhibits. Perhaps one of the most iconic landmarks in Dortmund is the Florianturm. This television tower hovers over scenic Westfalenpark and stands at roughly 220 meters tall. Here you can take in the Dortmund views while dining at the revolving restaurant. The Museum Ostwall currently features modern and contemporary art, however, when it first opened in 1948, it displayed work that the Nazis had once deemed “degenerate art.” These works included Expressionist and New Objectivity works. Some of the works of famous artists that line the walls include: Picasso, Salvador Dali, Emil Nolde, and Franz Marc. The Alter Markt, Dortmund’s marketplace for almost 900 years, is a hub for socialization and shopping. In the warmer months, an outdoor bar and café seats fill the plaza, and if Borussia Dortmund wins their match, they head to the Alter Markt for a little celebrating. Then there’s Westenhellweg, a shopping haven. This pedestrianized centre features every big retail brand available in Germany. This popular shopping venue receives almost 13,000 visitors an hour.

Dortmund Airport (DTM/EDLW) is the primary airport we use for private jet charters to Dortmund. It is located about 6 miles east of the city center and is well-equipped for private aviation with FBO services. Düsseldorf International (DUS) about 40 miles west is a larger alternative for heavier jets.
The cost varies based on aircraft type, departure city, passenger numbers, and extras. For example: a midsize jet from London typically runs €5,000–€10,000 one-way; a super-midsize jet from Paris or Amsterdam might cost €8,000–€15,000; a long-range jet from New York can range from $35,000–$70,000+. These are approximate—factors like fuel surcharges and positioning can change the final price. Advisors give exact quotes tailored to your trip.
We use midsize jets like the Citation Latitude, Hawker 900XP, or Learjet 60 for European hops; super-midsize jets like the Challenger 350 or Citation Longitude for more space; and long-range jets like the Gulfstream G650, Global 6000, or Falcon 8X/10X for transatlantic comfort.
Contact a private flight advisor 24/7 by phone or through the site. We will discuss your travel plans, source the aircraft, coordinate German customs, arrange in-flight dining, and handle ground transfers to Dortmund city center or the Westfalenstadion.

Service and attention was excellant. Little disapointed in the interior room. Very cramped. It would be OK for a very short flight but longer than 1 hour would need more interior room with adquate bathroom facitlies.
