To get an idea of Flint’s past, a visit to the Sloan Museum in the Flint Cultural Center is a must. The museum incudes the Buick Automotive Gallery and Research Center, which exhibits a large display of classic and concept Buicks, Chevrolets, and other locally built automobiles. A large campus, the Flint Cultural Center is also home to the:

Located next to the cultural center is the Applewood Estate, a gentleman’s farm built in 1916 for the co-founder of General Motors, Charles Stewart Mott. The home and extensively landscaped grounds —open to the public from May through October— encompass approximately 34 acres, including an orchard with 29 varieties of heritage apples. For delicious Michigan apples and other fresh produce, meats, baked goods, and wares, make sure to visit the Flint Farmers’ Market, which has been recognized as one of the American Planning Association’s Great Public Spaces in America. Recently relocated back to its original Union Street building downtown, the market is open year round and features an atrium where you can enjoy lunch, a rooftop bar, demo kitchen, and an art gallery.
