Indulge in everything chocolate at Hersheypark, which is a family theme park situated just 15 miles east outside of Harrisburg in Hershey, Derry Township. The park offers rides, live shows, dining and, of course, all things related to our favorite confectionary. Take in some Harrisburg heritage when you visit Fort Hunter Mansion and Park. Guided tours are offered throughout the restored mansion and you can also enjoy 40 acres of park area with picnic tables, play equipment and walking trails. The National Civil War Museum, which is located in Reservoir Park and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution, offers educational displays and information on the American Civil War of 1861-65. The museum features a Walk of Valor, consisting of red bricks bearing the names of Civil War veterans who have been honored by their surviving descendants. The Pennsylvania National Fire Museum is a great way to explore the history of fire and emergency services dating back to the 18th century. For outdoor fun, Harrisburg has extensive walking, hiking and biking trails, prime golf courses, and an array of fishing spots and boating tours for the family.
