Known for its historical buildings and national landmarks, the Connecticut State Capital, located south on Capital Avenue and south of Bushnell Park, is the third state legislative building built for Connecticut since the American Revolution. It dates back to 1878 and its main floor features a gallery with artifacts dating back to the Civil War. Some private planes land at Bradley International Airport (BDL), however, as the primary commercial airport servicing the City of Hartford and the state of Connecticut, it can get quite busy. Hartford-Brainard Airfield (HFD), located just three miles south of the city, features two asphalt runways measuring 4,400 and 2,300 feet. This is suitable for small-to-midsize planes flying into and out of the area. Robertson Airfield (4B8) is another small airport about 15 miles west of the city.
