Lausanne is a hillside jewel on the shores of Lake Geneva, where medieval streets cascade down to shimmering waters framed by snow-dusted Alps. Known as the Olympic capital, the city blends sporting spirit with French-Swiss elegance, offering world-class museums, vineyard views, and vibrant café culture. Whether you're wandering its atmospheric Old Town or cruising the lake at sunset, Lausanne delivers a refined yet relaxed escape full of charm and scenic splendor.
With a population of 140,000, Lausanne is Switzerland’s fifth-largest city. French is the main language, but Lausanne is a cosmopolitan, multi-language destination. Explore by bus, bike, or on foot. See the Olympic Museum, stroll in the parks and gardens or along the floral quays, take an excursion on the lake or through the vineyards, take a relaxing spa break. You won’t want to miss anything!
Good walking shoes are practical as you explore the hills and cobblestone streets. Many hotels provide a Lausanne Transport Card, so you can use public transportation when your legs start to get weary. There are over twenty museums in Lausanne, devoted to everything from Art to Zoology. The Olympic Museum, Elysee Photography Museum and Espace des Inventions (“Inventor Space”) are among the highlights. In the center of the old town, the magnificent Lausanne Cathedral overlooks the city. Consecrated in 1275, the cathedral is one of the most beautiful gothic churches in Europe, attracting more than 400,000 visitors every year. Get a unique perspective of Lausanne with a rail or boat tour. The Blonay-Chamby Railway Museum provides stunning views as you travel in a restored steam train. Or glide along the shores of Lake Geneva with one of the many lake tours. You can book anything from short tours to see the famous Lavaux vineyards, all the way to fully-catered sunset cruises featuring the best Swiss wines, specialty cheeses and gourmet foods. Lausanne strives to make culture and entertainment accessible to all. Whether you like opera, ballet and theatre, or a casual outdoor concert in the park, Lausanne has something that will appeal to you. Annual Festivals include a Jazz Festival, Blues Festival, Electronic Dance Raves, Afro-Fusion Music Festival, and even a Skateboard Festival.

Geneva Airport (GVA/LSGG) is the primary airport we use for private jet charters to Lausanne. It is about 40 miles southwest with excellent private aviation facilities through FBOs like Jet Aviation (headquartered here) and Signature Flight Support. Lausanne has no major commercial airport, so Geneva is the standard entry point with quick train or car transfer.
Costs depend on aircraft type, departure city, and route length. Transatlantic flights from the US require long-range jets, while European routes are more affordable. Advisors can provide a tailored quote—use our Private Flight Cost Calculator for an instant estimate or contact one directly.
For transatlantic routes we typically use ultra-long-range or heavy jets like the Gulfstream G650ER or G700, Bombardier Global 7500, or Dassault Falcon 8X/10X. For shorter European flights we select midsize or super-midsize jets like the Citation Latitude, Hawker 900XP, or Challenger 350.
Contact one of our private flight advisors 24/7. We handle aircraft sourcing, Swiss customs coordination, in-flight dining, and ground transfers (car or helicopter) to Lausanne or Lake Geneva.
