Malaga offers a perfect blend of sunny beaches, historic charm, and vibrant culture on Spain’s Costa del Sol. Visitors can explore ancient fortresses, enjoy fresh seafood, and stroll through colorful streets filled with art.
Located in the autonomous community of Andalucia in the Costa del Sol region, Malaga is the largest European city in the southernmost point of Europe and enjoys a subtropical-Mediterranean climate. Malaga experiences summer for eight months of the year, while even winter averages a pleasant 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The city itself is ancient, with around 2,800 years of rich history. Visitors and residents alike walk and work around archaeological remains and monuments, which come from the Phoenician, Roman, Arabic and Christian eras. The city is also known as the birthplace of internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso, Hebrew poet and Jewish philosopher Solomon Ibn Gabirol and actor Antonio Banderas.
Situated on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean is the Alcazaba (citadel) of Malaga, a military fortress built during the Hammudid Islamic dynasty in the early 11th century. Along with the Castillo de Gibralfaro, it is one of two fortresses built in Malaga and is one of the best-preserved Moorish palaces in Spain. Above Alcazaba is the Castillo (castle) of Gibralfaro, located at the summit of Mount Gibralfaro. It dates back to the 14th century and offers a spectacular view of the city and seaport below. Located at the foot of the Alcazaba is the Roman Theater, the oldest monument in Malaga. Built in the first century, it is the only ancient ruin left in Andalucia. It went through a full-scale restoration that lasted for two decades and reopened to the public in 2011. The amphitheater now features performances and other events while an adjacent visitor center serves as the free entrance to the site. Another must-see historical attraction is Malaga’s soaring Renaissance cathedral, which is nicknamed La Manquita (“one-armed lady”), as its south tower was never finished. The north tower rises 276 feet, and the cathedral’s sanctuary is filled with Gothic and neoclassic alter pieces. Malaga is also the site of numerous art museums, including the converted 16th century Buenavista Palace, which acts as the Museo Picasso Malaga. It features more than 200 Picasso works donated by the late Spanish artist’s family. The Carmen Thyssen Museum, which is also located in a 16th century Renaissance palace, features an international collection of masterpieces and Spanish works based on the collection of Carmen Cervera. After exploring the palaces and ancient ruins, relax at the Playa de La Malagueta, one of Malaga’s popular beaches located in a sheltered bay near numerous luxury resorts and hotels.

Costs depend on aircraft type, departure city, and route length. European flights from London, Paris, or Madrid are more affordable, while transatlantic routes from the US require long-range jets and increase the price. Advisors can provide a tailored quote—use our Private Flight Cost Calculator for an instant estimate or contact one directly.
For European routes we use midsize jets like the Citation Latitude, Hawker 900XP, or Learjet 60; for transatlantic we select long-range jets like the Gulfstream G650, Global 6000, or Falcon 8X/10X for comfort and efficiency.
