The Basillica de Sant Frescesc, founded in 1281, is another church featuring an intricate gothic cloister and baroque façade. For a more modern take on island life, visit the Es Baluard Contemporary Art Museum, which is a great spot to spend a few hours indoors. To get a view of the island, take a scenic ride on the Soller Railway, which runs between Palma and Soller, with stops in between, or visit the Poble Espanyol on the outskirts of Palma. This village showcases a diverse array of Spanish architectural styles, where you can dine on Spanish food in the Plaza Major or shop for hand-made crafts in the village shops.
