General Information

The Santa Ynez Valley consists of six small communities in Santa Barbara County, California. Of those five communities is its namesake, Santa Ynez, which is an old spelling of Santa Inés which is Spanish for Saint Agnes. Many of the communities in California today started off as Franciscan missions. Prior to that, the land was home to the Chumash people. Some of the interesting history of these communities can be found carefully preserved at local museums.
