Early trappers to the area in Colorado heard a “chugging sound,” and they thought they heard a steamboat coming up the river. When they went to investigate, they discovered that the sound they heard was actually coming from natural hot springs. Because of this, they decided to call this place Steamboat Springs. Rivers, mountains and beautiful wild terrain welcome visitors year round; however, Steamboat Springs is internationally renowned for its Rocky Mountains and skiing resorts. For a long time, because the winters were severe, skiing was the only mode of transportation through the Rockies. It stands to reason that the town developed around winter activities, eventually becoming home to Steamboat Ski Resort and the Howelsen Hill Ski area. While winter temperatures average around 2 degrees Fahrenheit, summer highs in the 80s are lovely for hiking and cycling through some of the world’s most beautiful outdoor landscapes and rafting rapids through breathtaking valleys. The towns’ nearly 13,000 inhabitants will agree that they are spoiled with all the natural beauty.

Flight was for an elderly person and the tail number was provided a long time before the flight and I made sure the person flying had all the info written down by someone who could hear and got everything correct. Flyer had that until day before when tail number changed. I had to find someone who could hear me well and right down the correct info for the person traveling so he got it straight in his head and for driver.

From pre-trip planning to updates via text message on your way to the airport, Stratos had us covered. We made our way from Emirates @ JFK and the FOB transfer was easy. Joel had already updated Julie (my assistant) before we landed that there were long delays out of JFK due to weather. The transfer to FBO was easy and they were expecting us. The plane was comfortable and modern and the crew could not have been kinder. Thank you guys as always for a great trip. Plane was not clean. One pilot claimed to have a mask but never wore it, despite being told to. My booking with Stratos was clear and should have been obvious even if I hadn’t specifically asked for a clean plane and a masked crew. My wife and I neither ate (to not remove our masks) nor used the bathroom ( the unmasked pilot had to use the bathroom shortly after departure). By far our most uncomfortable air travel made worse by the fact that it was private.

Everything was great. Prompt and clear comms about flight / craft options. Kept us informed about key status. Nice account website and live-links for details. And, just friendly and pleasant people to work with. One big thing was that our original operator's plane cancelled due to mechanical the day before our departure. We know that happens sometimes and not Stratos' fault. What was great was how quickly the Stratos team got us viable alternatives. Within probably an hour we had an alternate operator confirmed. We were very pleased how well Stratos reacted. And, the replacement craft and crew were top-notch as well.
