General Information

For centuries, the Coeur d’Alene and close Indigenous peoples visited the valley in the warm months. Later on, in the early 1800s, European fur-trappers discovered the area and by 1865, miners and settlers were breaking ground to make the area a permanent year-round home for themselves.
Today, Hailey is no longer in the shadow of the nearby Sun Valley resort communities. It prospers with a mix of tourism, business, arts and recreation.
