General Information
Located 25 miles east of San Francisco, 14 miles south of Oakland, and 28 miles north of San Jose and Silicon Valley, Hayward is a city located in the East Bay in Alameda County, and is home to California State University East Bay campus. Destroyed by an earthquake in 1868, Hayward has since grown to become the sixth largest city in the San Francisco Bay area and the third largest city in Alameda County, after Oakland and Fremont. Connected to San Francisco by the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge, Hayward’s economy is based around manufacturing and technology. It is home to the Shasta soft drink company as well as Annabelle Candy, Gillig bus corporation and Impax Laboratories.
