Martha’s Vineyard is a picturesque island getaway known for its charming towns, beautiful beaches, and scenic lighthouses. Visitors can enjoy fresh seafood, bike along scenic trails, and soak up the relaxed coastal vibe.
Well known as a peaceful, elegant island off the coast of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard has become America’s affluent summer colony in Massachusetts. Known as Hollywood’s East Coast hideout, as well as home to politicians, executives, and affluent families, Martha’s Vineyard has one of the largest collections of extravagant estates and mansions designed and built for the world’s social and financial elite.
US statistics show that the cost of living in Martha’s Vineyard is 60 percent higher than the national average while housing prices are 96 per cent higher than the norm. A popular vacation spot for private jet travelers, many travel to Martha’s Vineyard for a romantic getaway or just to get away from it all. The island features six towns and numerous beaches as well as resorts, vacation rentals, hotels and inns along with restaurants and shops that cater to visitors.
One of the most well-known beaches is located in the town of Aquinnah (formerly known as Gay Head) on the western end of the island. Many hike to the clay cliffs that lie above the beach for a truly breathtaking view. Located on the northwestern tip of the island is the town of Oak Bluffs, where Ocean Park is located. Popular for kite flying, playing Frisbee and catching the occasional concert, the park is surrounded by pristine Victorian mansions.
Golf destinations on Martha’s Vineyard include many beautiful private golf courses and golf clubs. Golf trips by private jets are especially popular for Martha’s Vineyard air charter.
Next to the park is the Flying Horses Carousel, the oldest operating platform carousel in the US. For some sand and surf, head to Oak Bluffs town beach or travel along the coast for the quieter Inkwell Beach or Joseph Sylvia State Beach, which was the main shooting location for the film Jaws.
At the tip of the bluff is the East Chop Light, a historic lighthouse that overlooks Vineyard Haven Harbor and Vineyard Sound, where the ferries to and from Nantucket Island, as well as Woods Hole and Hyannis on the Cape Cod peninsula, can be seen coming to shore. For a walk in the woods, a trip inland to Manuel F. Correllus State Park is a must.
The forest borders Martha’s Vineyard Airport and is located near the towns of West Tisbury and Edgartown. On the south edge of the island is Long Point Wildlife Refuge beach, which features sheltered salt and freshwater ponds and grasslands great for bird watching. Just east of the park is South Beach State Park, popular for surfing.
Although Martha’s Vineyard was named for the wild vines found on the island, very few wineries actually still exist on the island. However, wine is still celebrated with two wine festivals in Edgartown: May is the annual MV Wine Fest, a four-day event that features top international wines paired with food prepared by renowned chefs while October’s Food and Wine Festival also showcases local chefs and premier wines.

Martha’s Vineyard Airport (MVY) is the primary airport we recommend for private jet charters to Martha’s Vineyard. It is located about 4 miles from Vineyard Haven and serves the island well for executive aviation with a 5,200-foot runway and dedicated FBO facilities.
Costs depend on aircraft type, your departure city, passenger count, and any extras like ground transportation to Edgartown or Aquinnah. Short flights from Teterboro, Boston, or Nantucket are more affordable, while longer routes from the Midwest or West Coast increase the price. Advisors can provide a precise quote, or use our Private Flight Cost Calculator for an instant estimate.
We typically use light jets like the Citation CJ4 or Phenom 300 for shorter Northeast flights, midsize jets like the Hawker 900XP or Learjet 60XR for added comfort and range, and super-midsize jets like the Citation Latitude or Challenger 350 for larger groups or longer distances.
Contact a private flight advisor 24/7 by phone or through the site. We will discuss your group size, dates, and preferences (such as beach gear or bicycles), source the aircraft, and arrange ground transportation or ferry coordination if needed.
Summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day, especially July and August) is the busiest, with high demand for weekends, holidays, and events like the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival or agricultural fairs.
Popular routes include short flights from Teterboro, White Plains, Boston, Nantucket, and New York, as well as longer ones from Chicago, Washington DC, or Florida for island getaways.
Martha’s Vineyard is a premier summer escape known for pristine beaches (like South Beach and Long Point), charming towns (Edgartown with historic whaling captain homes, Oak Bluffs with gingerbread cottages and carousel, Vineyard Haven for shopping, Aquinnah for colorful cliffs), fresh seafood, farm-to-table dining, and outdoor activities (sailing, biking, fishing, horseback riding). It has a relaxed yet upscale vibe with celebrity appeal, lighthouses, and a strong arts community.
Yes, we support peak summer travel and last-minute requests for weekend escapes or events through our network.
Private flying provides direct access to MVY, flexible timing around ferry schedules or weather, and a comfortable cabin so you arrive ready for beaches, biking, or relaxation without commercial delays or crowded ferries.
