General Information

Sugar Land is an affluent and rapidly expanding city in the state of Texas near the Houston metropolitan area. Originally founded as a sugar plantation town in the ‘50s, the city is home to the headquarters for Imperial Sugar and was once home to its main refinery and distribution center. The Imperial Sugar logo can be found on the city’s seal and logo. CVR Energy, Inc. is another important corporation whose headquarters are based out of Sugar Land, along with Western Airways and Nalco’s Energy Services. Outlook Magazine and Texas Business Magazine repeatedly rank the city as a “Top City to Live” in America, as well as giving it the title of one of the “Top Cities in Texas” for business relocation and expansion. As of December, 2017, the neighboring communities of Greatwood and New Territory have officially become part of the city of Sugar Land, increasing the city’s population and land base.

Sugar Land lives up to its name as a sweet place to experience good ol’ Texan hospitality. Far from being a bedroom community, the city has a number of attractions, from the performing arts to sports as well as shopping and dining. Conveniently located off of Highway 59, the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land offers fascinating science exhibitions, including a salt-water aquarium, which appeals to all ages. You can open up your family’s imagination even further at the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Park, which is located on the first floor of the old Imperial Sugar refinery site. The park features five galleries with hands-on exhibits geared towards children 12 years old and under. Home of the 2016 Atlantic League Champions, the Sugar Land Skeeters, you can catch a ballgame, concert or other event at Constellation Field, or play a round of golf at the Greatwood Golf Club, which offers a full-service restaurant.
