Chartering private jets is all about convenience. You get to travel:

  • Where you want
  • When you want
  • With who you want

But one aspect of private aviation that often gets overlooked is you also get to travel with what you want. If you’re heading away for a golfing vacation, you certainly want to make sure your aircraft has the baggage capacity for your clubs. And while all luxury jets have storage capacity of some description, some have more than others.

In general, the larger the jet, the further it can fly and the more cargo it can hold. Here is a look at the class leaders in this regard:

Turboprop – Beechcraft King Air 350

Turboprops offer considerable economy when compared to private jets that use turbofan engines. They also offer plenty of seating options and cargo space. Leading the way is Beechcraft’s King Air 350i, which boasts 71 cubic feet of space.

Light Jet – Embraer Phenom 300

Private jets with the best luggage capacity in their class let you take golf clubs and extra baggage with you
Despite being classed as a light jet, the Embraer Phenom 300 has a storage capacity that surpasses many midsize jets. In total, it features 84 cubic feet of storage, including a 66 cubic-foot aft compartment. This gives it the ability to stow either six sets of skis or golf clubs, plus:

  • Six roll-on bags
  • Six garment bags
  • Six small bags

That’s a lot for one small jet!

Midsize Jet – Cessna Citation XLS

The Cessna Citation XLS is one of the best-selling private jets ever built, and part of that has to do with its class-leading luggage capacity (79 cubic feet). With a cabin that measures more than 18 feet (it’s also one of a few midsize jets that offers stand-up headroom), there’s plenty of room for up to seven passengers too.

Super-midsize – Cessna Citation Sovereign

Cessna is also at the head of the class in the super-midsize category as well, thanks to the Citation Sovereign. It features an external baggage compartment totaling 100 cubic feet (up to 1,435 pounds), as well as an internal storage area of 35 cubic feet. This allows passengers to access their belongings inflight.

Heavy Jet – Embraer Lineage 1000

Dubbed an ‘ultra-heavy jet,’ the Brazilian-built Embraer Lineage 1000 blurs the lines between a heavy jet and a charter airliner. Regardless of how you label it, its 443 cubic feet of storage space allow you bring pretty much anything you want when you travel.

Charter Airliner – Airbus A380

With nearly 6,000 square feet of usable floor space, there isn’t much the Airbus A380 can’t transport. It has a bulk hold volume of 505 cubic feet, and a total bulk loading volume of nearly 6,500 cubic feet!
