Look inside any supercar, luxury home or private yacht, and you’ll realize they all have something in common: impeccable style created by some of the world’s leading designers. It was only a matter of time before these visionaries began using luxury private jets as their canvas. And now they have. Rather than settle for the standard factory finish—many of which are impressive in their own right—owners of private planes as well as some aviation companies are turning to experts across a range of industries to give their vessels individualized style makeovers. The results are one-of-a-kind works of art that echo the owners’ personal taste. Automotive Designers If you’ve ever seen the inside of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class Sedan, it’s a thing of beauty. An article in Air Business International explains how the storied German auto manufacturer’s design team partnered up with Lufthansa Technik, a company that specializes in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul, to outfit the interiors of some of their luxury jets in ultra-sleek style. Mercedes is said to have used the S-Class’s interior as inspiration, expanding it on a wider scale for the jet cabin application. However, Mercedes isn’t the only automaker launching into the world of luxury private jets. Others include:

  • DesignWorksUSA (BMW Group)
  • Porche Design Studio
  • Pininfarina (Ferrari)

Top Fashion Houses versace_luxury private jets It would be difficult to think of someone more qualified to create a grand vision for the interior of luxury private jets than a high-end fashion designer. And that’s exactly what some jet companies are doing. According to an article written by Kirby J. Harrison in Business Jet Traveller Magazine, Italian fashion house Gianni Versace worked with TAG Group to create a stunning redesign of one of their private charter planes. Super-yacht Designers Project Mayfair_luxury private jets Zoe Dickens of Boat International Magazine describes how Andrew Winch Designs, a renowned yacht design firm based in London, traded the high seas for blue skies to work on a venture called Project Mayfair. Inspired by the elegant interiors of London’s luxury hotels, Winch created a series of pre-prepared designs for large private jets. This actually makes a lot of sense because, aside from offering different modes of transport, private jets and super-yachts have a lot in common. Winch’s templates are flexible enough that owners can impart their own sense of style to create truly magnificent custom interiors, which include:

  • Feeling of space and comfort
  • Harmonious design
  • High-tech materials

Another example of a London yacht-designer-turned-jet-designer is Priestmangoode. They collaborated with Brazilian aerospace firm Embraer to overhaul the interior of the Lineage 1000, an ultra-large business jet. PriestmanGoode_luxury private jets The Lineage is one of the larger luxury private jets on the market, with seating for up to 19 passengers. It features multiple zones, including a:

  • Bar
  • Stateroom
  • Double bed
  • Shower
